2011 Band Camp Information

Important Items:

  • This year we will be returning to the Heartland Retreat Center in Marengo, Ohio. All members should plan to arrive at Heartland on Sunday between 2:00pm and 3:00pm to register at camp, move their belongings into their room, and prepare for dinner. If you would like more information about the camp or their facilities please visit their website at: www.heartlandretreat.com
  • Parents - Please consider helping us out with chaperoning, even if it can only be 1 or 2 days. We anticipate needing app 5-10 women and 5-10 men. Email (Mr. Brun)
  • Camp is closed to the public during the week. Alumni, older siblings, friends, etc. are welcome to attend the Parent Show at Heartland on Friday at 5:00pm but will be asked to leave during the week.
  • 2010 Dates to be announced - 2010 dates were August 1 thru August 6
  • The cost for camp this year will be $350.00 and must be paid in full before members will be allowed to move in to their room. You may pay the fee anytime between July 26 and August 1. YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE THE MEDICAL FORMS FILLED OUT AND SIGNED BY YOUR PARENTS IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE AT BAND CAMP! Please don't forget them.
  • We have a great menu planned for everyone so all students are expected to eat at every meal unless there is a medical reason. This is not the time to try to lose weight, etc. If you are missed at any meal, you will have to eat the next one with Mr. Brun! A fate worse than death! If you have special dietary needs (i.e. vegetarian needs), please let us know as soon as possible so we can inform the camp kitchen.

  • Once you receive your music at mini-camp (or download it from the band web site), it will be a good idea to start memorizing it. There will be music checks with the possibility of lost free time at band camp. If you do not want to lose free time, then be ready. New members should also have the school songs down, memorized if possible . . . The Fight Song, The Alma Mater, and The Star Spangled Banner. This will significantly help you out at band camp.
  • The 2010 OHSMB Contest Music is now available online. You can access and download your parts at: http://ohs.olentangy.k12.oh.us/teachers/ian_brun/ In the left column click Marching Band and download the appropriate parts. You will need ALL eight selections (i.e. Parade Music, Fight Song, Alma Mater, National Anthem, Warm-Up, Segment 1, Segment 2, and Segment 3).
